All of this information as found at teckcrunch.com.Have you seen this new phone? If you haven't then you have been living under a rock for the past couple years. This phone is the Jitterbug. It is the answer to many peoples complaints about old folk and cell phones. It was specifically made to be the most easy to use phone. There are two types of Jitterbug phones, the Dial and the One Touch. As you can see in the picture, the Dial closely resembles a regular phone. It has all of the numbers and a yes/no button. This makes it easy to use and the numbers are very large to make sure old people can use them. You can not text or take pictures wit this phone or do anything that any other phone can do. I enjoy the simplicity of this phone and think it is a great idea for older people. The One Touch is the only phone of it's kind. It has a total of nine buttons and most people will only use three of them. As you can see there is an operator button to call anyone with out having to find their name in your phone. There is a tow button to call a preset tow company to come to you and pick you up. There is also a 911 button for those emergencies that always happen with old people. I believe that this phone is a joke. diff you don't have the mental strength to look up a loved ones name in your phone, you shouldn't have a cell phone.

And what's wrong with the Jitterbug? It's not really a question of if the person has mental strength, it's just that old people don't understand how to use cell phones. I think it's great. But the commercials are pretty annoying.
I agree with Aly. If the person can't look through their contacts then they shouldn't have a phone. i believe that my grandparents should take that advice to heart. They have so many problems and I'm not sure they could even master the jitterbug. Also, do old people really talk on the phone that much? Don't their loved ones usually call them or come to their house to talk face-to-face?
ReplyDeleteThe Jitterbug scares me. Those buttons are HUGE. If you can't figure out your phone, ask someone for help. It's really not that hard. All of my grandparents and even my great grandparents can use cells phones (and occasionally text!) after asking people how to use it. And the commericals are uber annoying. I can't stand them.
